A private room for the people who carry everyone else.

Belong is a private Slack community for HR directors, people ops leads, and chief people officers. The messy, human, unglamorous work of managing humans — shared honestly, in private, with peers who get it.

Who's Inside

The humans who manage
other humans.

Not thought leaders. Not LinkedIn personas. People who are mid-conversation with a grieving employee and need someone to call right now.

"I joined Belong the week I had to lay off 22% of our team. The thread I started at 11pm had 40 responses by morning. I didn't feel alone for the first time in months."

I have to announce 30% layoffs tomorrow morning and I haven't slept in two days. I don't know how to stand in front of these people.

I've been there. I'm here. First — what do you need right now? Script help, emotional support, or someone to just be on the line with you in the morning?

🌱
HR Director · Nonprofit12:03am

Send me your draft. Four of us will give you feedback before 6am. You won't walk in alone.

Our parental leave policy is a mess and nobody uses it. 38% take-up rate. Has anyone rebuilt one that actually works?

VP People · FintechTuesday 9:18am

DM me. I rebuilt ours last year — went from 40% to 81% take-up. The trick was in how managers announce it, not the policy itself.

I'm dropping our full template in #resources right now. Feel free to butcher it.

"The thing about Belong is that every thread is also an invitation. Someone needed help. Someone showed up. You could be either one."

HR directors, people ops leads, CHROs, VP of People, and solo HR generalists at companies of any size. If you've ever had to absorb someone's grief at work and had nowhere to put it, this is for you. We specifically welcome the solo HR person carrying a team of 60, the CHRO at a 2,000-person company who can't be vulnerable with their own team, and every role in between.

Yes. The Slack community is free to join and always will be. We believe access to peer support shouldn't be gated by ability to pay. The donation option exists for members who want to sustain what they're getting — but it's never required, never tracked, and never mentioned inside the community itself.

Deeply private. Belong is a closed Slack workspace — you won't appear in search, your membership isn't public, and our community norms explicitly prohibit screenshotting or sharing conversations externally. We use anonymized excerpts on this page only with express member permission.

Real conversations. Someone posts at 11pm about a layoff announcement the next morning and six people show up. Someone shares a parental leave template they built and it gets downloaded 800 times. Someone asks if they're overreacting to a founder's behavior and gets 40 honest replies. It's not curated content — it's people who do your job, talking to each other.

Anonymity and intimacy. LinkedIn HR groups are performative — people say what looks good publicly. Reddit is anonymous but chaotic and lacks the professional context. Belong is a small, vetted, private space where people use their real job titles but protect each other's confidentiality. The size is intentional. We grow slowly to keep the culture.

Every dollar is accounted for in our monthly fund report shared inside the community. It covers: Slack workspace fees, monthly burnout resource kit curation, community moderation (we have one part-time moderator), and the occasional guest facilitator for live sessions. We publish the numbers every month. No salaries for founders — this is a genuine community project.

Still wondering if this is the right room for you?
